Europäische Identität ist Vielfalt: Bereits mit der ersten Dresdner Ausgabe hat das europäische Festival für junge Regie Fast Forward ganz offensichtlich einen Nerv getroffen. Das Publikum, besonders auch ein junges, interessierte sich für die noch unbekannten Theatermacher und Theatermacherinnen aus ganz Europa, für deren Themen wie für die Erzählweisen und Formen, mit denen der Nachwuchs seine Anliegen präsentierte. Es ist diese Vielfalt der Perspektiven, die künstlerische Bandbreite und die Intensität der Begegnungen, die das viertägige Festival ausmachen. Es ist die Mehrstimmigkeit einer jungen Generation, die kritisch auf die Gegenwart und die eigene Zukunft schaut. Dabei begreift sie die Kunst als den Ort produktiver Auseinandersetzung, als Chance sich mitzuteilen und Angebote zu machen. Neugier und Austausch sind Teil einer kulturellen Praxis, die die Werte und Traditionen Europas ebenso verkörpert wie den Realitätssinn und das Zukunftspotenzial unserer Tage: Sie stehen für das Miteinander in Vielfalt, nicht für Aus- und Abgrenzung. European identity is diversity: the first Dresden edition of the European festival for young directors – Fast Forward – had already clearly hit a nerve. The audience, an especially young one, was interested in the still unknown theater makers from all over Europe, in their themes as well as in the narrative styles and forms with which the young people presented their concerns. It is this diversity of perspectives, the artistic spectrum and the intensity of the encounters that make up the four-day festival. It is the polyphony of a young generation that takes a critical look at the present and its own future. They understand art as a place of productive debate, as an opportunity to communicate and to offer more. Curiosity and exchange are part of a cultural practice that embodies the values and traditions of Europe as well as the sense of reality and the future potential of our day: they stand for togetherness in diversity, not for exclusion and demarcation. Join with me in looking forward to another edition of this European festival in Dresden.
