Das Rahmenprogramm bringt Publikum und Künstler*innen des Festivals miteinander ins Gespräch. Auch hier steht die Nachwuchsförderung im Fokus. Denn internationale Vernetzung und der Blick über den Tellerrand gehören ebenso zur künstlerischen Ausbildung wie die Beschäftigung mit den eigenen Wurzeln und Traditionen. In den Formaten des Rahmenprogramms können Zuschauende wie Theaterschaffende in einer selten zu erlebenden Vielfalt miteinander diskutieren und Einblicke gewinnen in Sichtweisen und Seherfahrungen, in künstlerische Beweggründe, Ausdrucksweisen und Haltungen.
Workshop mit Studierenden europäischer Theaterhochschulen und dem Studiengang Bühnen- und Kostümbild der Hochschule für Bildende Künste Dresden

Wie verschieden oder ähnlich nimmt man einen Theaterabend wahr? Was sind die Gemeinsamkeiten, was die Unterschiede in der europäischen Theaterlandschaft? Wie ist das Theater im gesellschaftlichen Selbstverständnis verschiedener Länder verankert? Wie rezipiert man Theater hier und anderswo? Wie wird wo ausgebildet? Der Festivalworkshop lädt Studierende verschiedener europäischer Theaterhochschulen ein, Fast Forward gemeinsam mit Studierenden der Abteilung Bühnen- und Kostümbild der HfBK Dresden zu besuchen, sich über die gesehenen Inszenierungen auszutauschen, deren Regieteams zu treffen und mit ihnen zu diskutieren. Die Studierenden dieses Jahres kommen von Theaterhochschulen in Cluj-Napoca, Gießen, Kopenhagen, Lissabon, London, Maastricht, Prag, Salzburg, Sofia und Straßburg. In Dresden treffen sie nicht nur auf die Studierenden der HfBK, sondern ebenso auf die Theaterwissenschaftlerin, Kuratorin und Dramaturgin Stefanie Wenner sowie auf den in Prag lebenden Kurator, Produzenten, Theaterleiter und Regisseur Ewan McLaren. Zusammen reisen sie durch ein Stück Europa.
Stefanie Wenner studierte Philosophie, Soziologie, Allgemeine und Vergleichende Literaturwissenschaft und Kunstgeschichte in Köln und Berlin, wo sie in Philosophie promovierte. Sie arbeitete als Dramaturgin und Kuratorin u. a. am HAU Berlin und bei Impulse Theater Festival. 2014 gründete sie zusammen mit Thorsten Eiber apparatus und arbeitet an Formaten nachhaltiger Kunst- und Theaterproduktion. Seit 2015 ist sie Professorin für Angewandte Theaterwissenschaft und Produktionsdramaturgie an der HfBK Dresden.
Ewan McLaren studierte Schauspiel in Toronto, Kanada, bevor er 1990 nach Prag kam, als Regisseur für verschiedene Repertoiretheater arbeitete und schließlich als Produzent und Kurator in die freie Theaterszene wechselte. Seit 2003 arbeitet er kontinuierlich als Produzent im Bereich performatives Theater mit dem Prager Alfred ve dvoře Theater zusammen, dessen künstlerischer Leiter er seit 2011 ist. 2015 hob er hier das Festival Bazaar aus der Taufe. Sein Fokus liegt auf der Vernetzung der freien tschechischen Theaterszene mit innovativen Theatermacher*innen aus Zentral- und Osteuropa.

Die Inszenierungen des Festivals werden mit deutschen und englischen Übertiteln bzw. Übersetzungen gezeigt. The supporting program forges conversation between the artists and audience and also promotes the engagement of the younger generations. International networking and a look outside the box are as vital to artistic education as an engagement with one’s own roots and traditions. In the formats of the supporting program, visitors and participants alike will be able to have discussions and get a rare insight into the diverse aspects of theater, such as visual experience, artistic motivation, modes of expression, attitudes, and perspectives.

In the interconnected present, notably a lot of information is digitally accessible at any time. And yet, personal interaction and the time spent together are deciding factors to enable the exchange of experience and render it productive. What similarities and what differences exist in the European theater landscape and how we perceive a theater performance? How is theater rooted in the social self-understanding of different countries? How is theater received here and somewhere else? How does education differ from place to place? The festival workshop invites students of different theater universities to visit Fast Forward, together with students of the degree course stage and costume design of the HfBK Dresden, and to exchange views about the performances, meet the direction teams and have discussions with them. This year the students come from theater universities in Cluj-Napoca, Giessen, Copenhagen, Lisbon, London, Maastricht, Prague, Salzburg, Sofia and Strasbourg. In Dresden they will not only meet with the students of the HfBK, but also with theater scholar, curator and dramaturg Stefanie Wenner, as well as curator, producer, theater manager and director Ewan McLaren. Together they will go on a journey through parts of Europe.
Stefanie Wenner studied philosophy, sociology, general and comparative literature and art history in Cologne and Berlin, where she received her PhD in philosophy. She worked as a dramaturg und curator at the HAU Berlin and Impulse Theater Festival, among others. In 2014, she co-founded apparatus together with Thorsten Eiber and works on sustainable art and theater production formats. Since 2015, she is professor for applied theater studies and production dramaturgy at the HfBK Dresden.
Ewan McLaren studied acting in Toronto, Canada before he came to Prague in 1990, worked for several repertory theaters and finally moved into the free theater scene as producer and curator. Since 2003 he works continuously as a producer in the area of performative theater, together with the Prague Alfred ve dvoře Theater and since 2011, he holds the artistic direction. Here, he founded the Bazaar Festival in 2015. His focus is the networking of the free Czech theater scene with innovative theater makers from Central and Eastern Europe.
